Protecting and serving seems to be one of the lowest priorities of BUPD. Slow to respond and apathetic when present; their main focus seems to be harassing students into conforming to their conservative ideals - ironic for a force including an officer recently charged with a DUI.
A department based on furthering careers and abusing power. I had an incident where I was called childish in result of them not being able to write a ticket. 80% of BUPD patrols the freshman dorms Ross and Resco often walking through halls for no reason. Recently an armed robbery occurred across the street from one of the said freshman dorms and the department gave a timely warning seven hours after the incident to warn students to danger. In the report the police department responded in six minutes which seems acceptable until you account it’s a 1 minute walk from the station. Also the report was mistyped because if the situation is recounted it took them 20 minutes to respond instead of 6 which was officially reported. This is also not the first time BUPD has lied in a police report. Throughout the past summer tuition was raised and we were greeted upon arrival by off-roading vehicles for the department and new f150s to go give tickets in. All this department cares about is bullying college students and giving out large amounts of tickets. I would not be surprised if my residential area is searched for “fire hazards” following the posting of this review due to the abuse of limitless power
Inconsistent with parking enforcement, student assistance, and general respect for the law, I've never felt any safer as a result of BUPD's presence. In fact; I've felt remarkably uncomfortable during every single interaction.
Quick to respond and willing to work with the neighborhood to solve issues with students.
Too much focus on ruining the trajectory of college careers and not focused enough on actually keeping people safe.
