This place was told short term detox and then go to an inpatient rehab facility at another location. Instead they convince the person to do their 'better success' outpatient program, even after being told the patient would not have a place to live to do outpatient, and very much against the spouse, family, and job's wishes. They convince the still on detox drugs patient that everyone else is wrong and not being supportive after less than 3 days in their facility. They do not care about a person's total well being and only care about selling their services.
I was treated like I was nothing. I have been mentally ill for years. I was offered a prescription so I could go home and take them and go ahead and die. Nice folks.
This facility gives crisis a new meaning. The jail like setting, the delay upon delay upon delay is ridiculous. 5 hours to be seen - that's a lot of time for someone in crisis to calm down. Doesn't mean they don't need help, they are just too exhausted by the wait. St Vincent's Stress Center is far superior and treats those in crisis quickly, effectively and respectfully. The 'process' at Comm N, as stated by the non-empathetic staff at reception is in dire of need of a total re-haul. Will never refer anyone to this facility.
I have been in 3 East and 3 North and have had problems with only a handful of staff. This place saved me from an opiate addiction and most recently a mental condition. I donated clothes because I felt the need to give back. You have to be proactive and want to get better. Being inpatient sucks at times but again you have to be proactive to change that. Another thing is, know what meds you're taking, what they do, and express to your doctor what needs adjusted. Also, it's good to know how an immediate detention works, once you do, realize that's just the way the system works and that's at every crisis center. The place saved me twice and I thank the majority of the great staff for that.
I am using my old account for reasons..., Im 16 now and I was 15 when I went there Im better now and even got my life together. This place did not help me at all. The staff treated you like subhuman they made you eat and I gained so much weight there and am still working on losing it to this day, I was on and off so many antidepressants it was insane. When I got out I felt worse until I got taken to therapy place and they gave me the right medication. Im doing amazing now. It had nothing to do with this hellish place
