I finally had a chance to go up the monument while downtown for a wedding. I chose to take the stairs (in a suit) and regretted it about half way up. If you're fit it's not a big deal but I am not. My legs hurt the rest of the day. It was worth it. Great views and seeing the inside is neat. I'm so glad that we have such a wonderful spot like this in our city. Worth a look.

Nice monument in a great location. I didn't get a chance to go up but the views are said to be great. Even without going up, the statue, monument and it's location are worth seeing. Lots of nighttime photo opportunities as the statues is nicely lit up at night.

Great central and historical location perfect for pictures! Right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis the Soldiers and Sailors Monument is close to almost everything and is worth a stop. During the Winter they light this monument up like a giant tree and it is stunning!

The largest monument of its kind, made of stacked Indiana limestone. Each year it transforms into the world's tallest Christmas tree when decorated with lights. Take the stairs or the elevator ($2) for a one-of-a-kind view of the Circle City. Go below for a neat museum full relics and artifacts of war. Certainly a great way to spend an afternoon downtown.

We have went to the museum on several occasions and always pleasantly happy with our experience. We went recently to visit the downtown Christmas tree on the last warm evening. It was beautiful and the perfect evening to go. It is always well-kept and security is always available to make the experience nice for everyone. It's one of Indianapolis historic sites and a beautiful place to visit year-round.
