And the doctors? Are GOOD DOCTORS. REALLY good doctors. I've gotten better help there than at ANY office I went to when I had "great insurance."
Even if you feel like "I have good insurance so I shouldn't go take up space at this low-income clinic," trust me, not only do they have space for you, but YOUR great insurance provides funding for them to keep their business afloat so they CAN help people who are low income. YOU WILL BENEFIT PEOPLE LIKE ME BY VISITING LOW INCOME CLINICS LIKE THIS with your great insurance.
Copied from my own personal Facebook post: I'm SO LUCKY to be able to actually have a RELATIONSHIP with my doctor's office. It's just a part of the clinic's business model. They have behavioral health specialists that work alongside the doctors that they will OFFER to let you talk to if you're having trouble communicating with the doctor (for whatever reason.) It frees up the doctors to do the analyses and assessments that can sometimes feel "cold and clinical" to their patients, while offering them someone to talk to who's SOLE PURPOSE is to help you feel emotionally at peace (as much as possible) with what's going on.
Basically, "bedside manner" is delegated. And the therapists they have on staff are SUPER understanding and kind and just downright good at their jobs
I live in Indy and I go to Raphael Health Center. They take just about EVERY insurance (again, part of their business model.) Even if you have GREAT insurance but ever feel like "My doctor thinks I'm a hypochondriac," they are worth looking into.
You feel the feels when people can't get the Healthcare they need. This is a thing you can do to help, and you will ACTUALLY benefit. Like REALLY benefit, not like, "Buy this thing you can't afford and it will make your life better because I'm trying to sell you something" benefit.
Always able to get appointment and very friendly staff and always answer my question
Full disclosure: No one is paying me to say this. I've simply dealt with health issues for years that are FINALLY being addressed, thanks to the docs and therapists at Raphael. I've been miserable for so long and I'm REALLY passionate and enthusiastic about the help they've been able to give me.
If you have a clinic like this in your area and you can find any ways to support them (including coming in for a check up with your Great Insurance) PLEASE do so. I know it FEELS like, "I can afford better care. I don't need that," but the reality is, they ARE better care.
An excellent health center. Quality care. Friendly knowledgeable staff. A place where you can feel safe and no complaint is taken lightly.
