Asked for assistance with my brand new bicycle and the gentleman that I asked for assistance was extremely rude and unhelpful. Since this bicycle shop is in close proximity to my house and since my family and I will need 7 bikes to be worked on rest assuredly I will NOT be bringing my bicycles here. HORRIBLE experience.
I just needed my bike chain replaced. I haven't ridden a bike long, but I've had a chain replaced before and the shop (in the southern U.S.) was able to install for free after I purchased the chain for $20. I was expecting to pay around $35 all told at DG. Here's where I was wrong.
Lesson is, shop around, or at least don't patronize this business. I assume they thought we did not know what we were doing, and they took advantage of us. I'm out $73, but have learned not to deal with this business. Be very wary or just try another bike shop down 86th or literally anywhere but here.
I tend to fix my own bikes. Have purchased parts and received some good advice at the same time. I will continue to shop here.

2. The reputable bike shop also said their installation fee is $9. So DG charged us double.
1. DG charged $50 for a chain (we did not specify a budget, so I take the blame on that), AND $20 for installation. We went to a different bike shop and told them the model of the chain that was installed and they said MSRP is $25...DG charged DOUBLE the suggested retail price. I get raising the price by $5, we all need to eat, but DOUBLE. Absolutely ridiculous. This other bike shop also seemed surprised by the upsell.
3. DG is cluttered (I tripped on a bike simply walking in the door) and the staff unfriendly. The salesman helping me did not ever look at me or ask me anything other than to say "ride fast, take chances" when I finished my transaction. I made eye contact with many other workers and was not greeted.
I am reluctant to spend time writing this review but feel a need to warn others about my bad experience here. I don't know much about bike maintenance, so I had to trust the shop to tune my bike. They said they did a tune-up but $65 later the bike's gears were slipping like crazy and the back break is now sticking. My bike was in better shape before the tune-up (it's a nice bike). I left a message about the problem and asked them not to tune another bike I had left there. But they tuned the other bike anyway and didn't give me the courtesy of a return call. I paid the entire $130, held my tongue and walked away. I learned a long time ago, when you find bad service, you cannot rehabilitate it. You can't change know-how or conscienciousness. Better to take the hit and try again at a shop with good service. But I sincerely hope others can avoid this kind of loss and frustration by steering clear of DG Bicycles in Nora in the first place
I hate to leave bad reviews, but this place really deserves one. If I could give zero stars, I would. They failed us on many accounts with quick turnaround (24h) being the only positive.
