The office staff is the worse. I went in and they prescribed new meds. This was a Thursday late appointment. It was never called in until Monday and only after I called them back to ask what gives.

I was assigned a doctor at this office by my insurance company. I called to make an appointment and was told they don’t make appointments and I would need to call in the morning. ( Actually they had also told me they only do appointments for the same week but also told me that you have to call in the morning to make an appointment for the same day. It was really confusing. ) Next morning I called as soon as they opened and finally got through and the woman took down my information to call me back and never did. I immediately called my insurance to find a new doctor. Just talking to the front I could tell this place was disorganized. What kind of doctors’ office makes you wake up early in the morning and compete with all other patients to make an appointment? It’s like competing to win a prize on a radio station. I can’t imagine what it would be like if I was actually sick and had to play their stupid games. I didn’t actually get to see what the care is like. Maybe if they had excellent care I could understand the insanity involved in making an appointment, but after reading other reviews it seems like the insanity would just continue.

Another time I left a message that I couldn't afford a med anymore ($200/month) and that I was going to stop taking it and they needed to see if there was something else that was affordable. That was 4 months and still no reply or call. Even when I went in and saw the dr and they were going to have a specialist in office call me back about some issues it took them months to do that.

Excuse I got when I complained about all of this is that they are short staffed.

I had to go in ever 3 months for blood work (way to get more $$ off you) and once I called to make sure there be someone there to take it the next morning. Was told even for blood you need an appointment. This was wrong and had to argue with the later for 10 minutes over this. Finally got someone who know what she was doing. Then went in and sat there for well over 45 minutes for just blood because no one knew what to do. This was time away from my work and if I'm not there I don't get paid. Why I called the day before to make sure I could get in and out.

This has been the worst medical experience I've ever had. This place is so unorganized and unprofessional. I get scheduled an appointment and when I get there, they didn't even have it in the system so they rescheduled me for an hour later and when I come back, the doctor I was scheduled to see, Lindsey Furry, refused to see me because "she didn't want to do the procedure today" without any explanation to why. I think it was incredibly unprofessional and this place needs to be checked out. It took them almost a month to get my baby girl her shot records and ready to give her the immunizations. Just not right. I wouldn't suggest anyone to be seen here.

Really you are having medical issues and they can't be bothered. But have not issues stop giving you your meds and always calling you to come for visits. Sorry to me that just show that they are about getting money from you. I feel like that is all that they want is your money. With very poor care.

Oh yea I worked in dr offices for almost 10 years before change of career. Never experienced this, it was about the patient first. Not here. I am so looking for a new dr.

I understand that, at times, an organization needs to "clean house," or, in other words, eliminate a certain number of employees for financial reasons. However, I do not think this in any way justifies firing someone who had no write-ups/black marks on their record, and then on top of that, to refuse to offer a valid explanation as to why you were doing this. Chris Shepler is, in my opinion, an extremely unprofessional, awful person, who takes pleasure in using her position to demonstrate that she has "power," and that she can fire you whenever she wants, even if there's no valid reason for doing so, just because she can. She is a perfect example of what is wrong with the healthcare system today, and no hospital/clinic/health care center that claims to be a decent organization would ever hire her. I guess that's the real problem with Shalom Health Care Center. In every way, they are NOT a good, high quality health care center.

I had the unfortunate experience of working at Shalom Health Care Center for 3 months in 2015. I can say without hesitation that this was, by far, the worst experience of my professional life thus far. I was hired as a Medical Interpreter, and this position was overseen by the head nurse, who was one of the few employees there who behaved in a professional, kind manner. For the first 3 months, Shalom employees are on probation, and, at the end of this time, you receive an evaluation of your job performance. This 3 month period was a fairly smooth process for me. The providers I interpreted for were (for the most part) competent and friendly. I only had one significant problem during this period. This was with a coworker who looked at my paycheck stub, then proceeded to complain to other employees that I was being paid too much, given how little work I did. I reported her, and she was subsequently terminated. At the end of my 3 month probation period, I was given a glowing evaluation by my supervisor, in which she said, basically, "You're doing an amazing job, keep up the good work." The next day, while I was in a room interpreting, my supervisor knocked on the door, and told me she was going to have another interpreter take over for me, as she needed to take me to the office of Christine Shepler, the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Director. I was surprised by this, as i had no idea what she could possibly need to speak to me about. When we got to her office, Chris, as she went by, told me "As you know, Indiana is an At Will Employer state, meaning we can terminate you at any time, for any reason, without having to provide an explanation, and that's what we're doing now." She then handed me a pink slip, which informed me that I was being fired. I was stunned, and said "I'm a little confused. I got a very positive evaluation yesterday, and today I'm being fired. How is that possible?" At that point, Chris glared at my supervisor, who looked like a deer in headlights (she clearly has not been consulted at all about my termination), because she was mad that she had given me a good evaluation. I pressed them for a reason, and the Security Officer said "We can't provide an explanation, as it might make us liable." I said, "So, you think I might sue you if you give me an honest answer for why you're firing me?" He didn't reply. Chris eventually said "It's just not working out." The next day, I found out that they also fired the Chief Medical Officer. A lawyer I spoke to said that, based on the fact that I had no write-ups, and that they fired another employee soon after me, they were likely "cleaning house."

I've been to this office and their new one on 56th street. I've always had good experiences with both offices. Staff has always been polite and friendly. The only thing I've been annoyed with is the interns. I know that they're still learning. So I'm not mad I just think they need a little more practice with some things. Taking vital signs and giving shots to children are two examples. I take both my kids there and they're great with them. I also went through both pregnancies there and they were awesome. If they weren't able to do something there they would refer me to someone that could. Like tubal ligations and more in depth sonograms. I've never had an issue trying to get appointments or them calling me for whatever reason. They've also had no problem getting a hold of me for any reason. Like rescheduling an appointment or giving me a referral. I would recommend them to others.

Plus there was a time that I made an appointment on a certain day so I could set on the same day that I had another. Was using one of my few personal days. They called me that morning and canceled it. I called back and told them to put with with someone else. They refused. Reason for cancel was that dr changed her days off. Really don't think it happened that morning. So I told them I had to have something late in the day because of work and that I set things up just for that day. They refused to work with me. Even though THEY canceled the appointment just 30 minutes before I was to go in.

They have a on-line portal that you are to use to leave messages. Left one about issues with my voice and possible from ammonia exposure. Took them over 3 weeks to reply. When I replied back to another 3 weeks to answer that. This time they did call and I told him that I went and figured out myself since they didn't seem to want to answer me.

This is the worse office I have even been a patient at. First you can not schedule any appointments, in advanced, after 1 pm. If you need something later than you have to call that morning. then trying to get through first thing in the morning to get those times is hard. Especially when you are at work trying to do this.
