Many restaurants have policies of automatically charging a certain percentage for a gratuity, often 18 percent, if you have a group of eight or more. To legally do so, the restaurant must communicate this policy ahead of time through signage or on menus. If your food is $100 for the table, your bill would likely arrive with $18 added on for the gratuity. You see this add-on and the total before paying the bill.
Horrible experience, I'm a server and searched for something redeeming. Food = ice cold. Server = placating and inattentive. Cleanliness = specs floating in both of our glasses. THE WORST PART = ATTEMPTED TO OVERCHARGE OUR DRINKS BY $5 ABOVE THE MENU PRICE EACH. Gtfoh. Nothing good here but the grocery. Maybe. I wanted to get out so bad I didn't shop as I had intended. Hideous.
Prompt service and delicious food that is reasonably priced for the quality. Very good but spicy salsa served with the chips. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant.
Love this place. It is however not for everyone. If you're not used to a meat market versus a butcher shop then you might be a little taken aback by this place. The grocery store is amazing though. Prices on produce are astronomically inexpensive compared to your major chains throughout the city. Prices for other groceries are a little more expensive simply because they can't compete with the bigger chains. The staff do their best to speak English. You will find very long lines the first weekend of the month and in the middle of the month so just be prepared for that. I have found the best time to go is early in the morning when they open during the weekdays and just about an hour before they close as well.
This place is spectacular. In my fairly extensive experience in Latin markets around the city, this one is the best. Where to begin? Upon walking in, the merchandising is spot on with a glimpse of specials, and a big eyeful of the home made pastries. I continue on through one of the most bountiful produce sections imaginable. The meat counter is stuffed with day to day cuts, ad well as an extensive array of variety meats. All fresh, all custom cut. The grocery shelves are stocked to perfection, and there's a full service deli. The entire place is immaculately clean and staffed with professionals. A truly great shopping experience. Oh, and there's a full service restaurant and cantina, which I will save for another outstanding review.
