I ordered fish and they told me they would not drop it until I got there. I called just before and asked them to start cooking it, they said okay. When I arrived they told me the fish was frozen and the wait would be 15 min. It was more like 30. The person who packed the food was awesome but the fish was hard at the top. Rest of out food was great. The meat loaf was awesome.
service was the best ive had in a long time. very welcoming environment. our waitress said great things about the food and was very personable.. she helped recommend food and drink that was absolutely amazing! even the other waitresses were pleasant when walking by. as a server myself, I was very impressed! 10/10 recommend and return!
I’ve been here about 4 times, and every time the service has been slow; however this most recent time was the worst! I normally go for lunch/dinner, but I was informed that they served breakfast so I was eager to try it out. Two ladies from my church and I arrived at around 11am. We were seated fairly quickly but it took about 10 minutes before someone took our orders. The only reason this was irritating was because there was only 3 other tables occupied with a max of 3 people sitting at each table. By the time the woman came to take our drink orders, we knew what we wanted to eat because we had been looking at the menu for so long. It took about 45 minutes to get our food. When we asked why it was taking so long, we were told it was because they were cooking the food in a kitchen down the street because they were getting the kitchen in the restaurant ready for lunch. I feel like they should have warned us of this when we ordered because I would have definitely gotten a lunch meal if it would cut down the wait time. I did give them 3 stars because the food wasn’t all that bad. It wasn’t as hot as it should have been but I didn’t want to send it back and for them to just put my plate in the microwave. All in all, if you have time to waste and you want decent food, this is the place to be.
This is a personal favorite. They do a ton for the community plus they have great food. Pictured is the catfish meal with the mac and cheese and yams.
This wasn't the worst, but it certainly was not the best. I've got a few favorite spots in the city for catfish and Kountry Kitchen came highly recommended by a trusted friend because those places weren't open yet. I ordered boneless catfish fillets, Mac and cheese and fries (had homemade greens at the house) and fried corn bread to go. The wait time was reasonable, and the server who handled my order was polite enough. But the food was mediocre. The portion sizes left a little to be desired considering the price (especially in comparison to local competition). But it was the flavor that disturbed me most. The fried corn bread had a strange taste, almost doughy. The macaroni tasted like something doctored up out of a box and the catfish was bland. Maybe things would have been better with a little butter for the bread or hot sauce for the fish, but I got no condiments. None offered, none provided. I can say my French fries were seasoned wonderfully, if that counts for anything!!
